Satwant Pasricha is the head of Department of Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences at Bangalore. She also worked for a time at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in the USA. Pasricha investigates reincarnation and near-death experiences. Pasricha co-authored the 2011 book Making sense of Near-Death experiences, which was Highly Commended in the Psychiatry category at the 2012 British Medical Association Book Awards.
Pasricha has investigated and participated in about 500 cases of reincarnation involving children (referred to as subjects) since 1973 who claim to remember previous lives. She became interested in working in parapsychology because she was not satisfied with the conventional explanations of certain paranormal or unusual behavior.
Pasricha studies not just the characteristics of reincarnation prevalent in India, but also suggests ways they are similar or different from those of people in other countries. She collaborated with Ian Stevenson in reincarnation research beginning in the 1970s.
She joined NIMHANS as a faculty in December 1980 as a lecturer in Clinical Parapsychology; and then was promoted to Assistant professor, Associate professor and Additional Professor of Clinical Psychology. She is also involved in clinical work such as patient care and teaching and research in the areas of her interest at NIMHANS.
Roy Stemman is the author of The Big Book of Reincarnation and is attributed to have done more to spread the word regarding evidence of reincarnation in Great Britain than anyone else. I had the great pleasure of meeting Roy when Barbro Karlen, who has had memories since childhood of being Anne Frank in a past lifetime, and I did a presentation in London years ago. Robert Snow worked as a police officer with the Indianapolis Police Department for over 38 years, retiring with the rank of captain. During his time there he served in such capacities as Police Department Executive Officer, Captain of Detectives, and Commander of the Homicide Branch. The major influence on Robert’s writing life was his mentor: Professor Mary Louise Rea of Indiana University. She saw a hint of talent and nurtured it. Robert received a Bachelors of Arts (BA) from Indiana University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Mary Fong is a professor of Communication Studies at California State University, San Bernardino. Her teaching and research interests are in Cultural and Intercultural Communication, Ethnography of Communication, Instructional Communication and Language & Social Interaction. Mary’s primary research interests include the communication patterns of the Chinese (from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, and U.S.) in cultural and intercultural interactions.
Mary also is interested in and teaches a course on Spiritual Communication. Scientific research conducted by Gary Schwartz, PhD at the University of Arizona has demonstrated that Spiritual Communication is a valid phenomenon.
She has been recognized for her three research presentations on Top Paper panels in the Language and Social Interaction Division and the Intercultural and International Division at the National Communication Association (NCA) and Western States Communication Association (WSCA) conventions. She is the former chair of the Asian Pacific American Communication Division (APAC) affiliated with NCA and also has chaired the APAC Caucus of NCA. In addition, she is the Past President of the Association for Chinese Communication Studies of NCA. She also chaired the Spiritual Communication Division of NCA (2016). At CSUSB, she has served as Ethnic Studies Coordinator (2003-06) and Teaching Associate Coordinator (2002-07). She has been a recipient of the University Diversity award and the university-wide Outstanding Adviser award.
She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California, Master’s degree at Long Beach State University and her PhD at the University of Washington.
Mary has co-edited and co-authored a textbook, Communicating Ethnic and Cultural Identity. Mr. Peterson graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a major in International Relations. He is also a graduate of the Foreign Service Institute used by State Department diplomats.
Mr. Peterson became a Peace Corps Volunteer immediately after completing his college work and was sent to Brazil for a two-year assignment. There, he worked to create the first privately funded welfare program in Brazil which today functions across the country and is supported by municipal governments. Upon completing this work, Mr. Peterson was appointed to the U.S. Foreign Service in 1967 by the President of the United States and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He then returned to work in Brazil as a diplomat with the American Embassy in that country. His diplomatic career eventually included assignments in South America, Africa and East Asia.
In 1980 Mr. Peterson resigned from the Foreign Service Corps and entered the U.S. Civil Service. He was a policy officer for the United States Information Agency (USIA) and later a manager of economic programs with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of that agency. USIA was an independent agency of the White House. Mr. Peterson spent his last 14 years in government service as a Director of the Fulbright Scholarship Program that funds an exchange of scholars worldwide.
In 1997 Mr. Peterson retired from government service and moved to Henderson, Nevada. There he wrote his book, Extraordinary Times, Extraordinary Beings, that tells of his personal experiences with Maitreya and the various spiritual Masters of Wisdom. Since then, he has lectured across the United States, Canada, and Europe on the Masters, esoteric wisdom and the evolution of the soul. Mr. Peterson passed away on April 20, 2017.
Celebrity and historic figure reincarnation cases have been derived through my work with Kevin Ryerson, who is pictured to the right. In contrast, all cases presented under categories of Principles of Reincarnation, such as Physical Resemblances, Birthmarks, etc, were derived through independent researchers, with a focus on the work of Ian Stevenson, MD.
Kevin Ryerson is a world-renowned trance medium, whose fame began when Shirley MacLaine wrote about her collaboration with Kevin in her pioneering book, Out on a Limb. Subsequently, when the movie version of Out on a Limb was produced, Kevin played himself in that film. Kevin is the author of Spirit Communication: The Soul’s Path.
As a trance medium, Kevin goes into a meditative state to allow spirit beings to utilize his body to communicate with human beings. When a spirit being speaks through Kevin, the personality and voice of the spirit being emerges, which is different from Kevin’s voice and personality. After a session in which Kevin “channels” a spirit being, Kevin has no memory of what happened during the session.
In 2001, I began having sessions with Kevin and found that he channels a spirit guide named Ahtun Re, who has the ability to make accurate reincarnation matches. In my assessment, Ahtun Re was able to accurately identify past lives of individuals, as well as identify contemporary incarnations of individuals from history.
In a section of the Reincarnation Research website, I present five core reincarnation cases which serve as examples of Ahtun Re’s abilities to make accurate matches. Perhaps the most dramatic and entertaining example of Ahtun Re’s talents involve the reincarnation cases of Laurel and Hardy | Josh and Danny Bacher. When Ahtun Re confirmed this match, I knew next to nothing about Josh and Danny and more specifically, I had no knowledge that they had any affinity with Laurel and Hardy.
When I contacted Danny Bacher to tell him that he was the reincarnation of Oliver Hardy, I was amazed to learn that Josh and Danny had begun pretending that they were Laurel and Hardy almost as toddlers. From money they had earned from their newspaper route, they bought a movie camera and started to make slapstick movies as children. When they bought their first car, they made a tape of Laurel and Hardy movie music, which they played as they drove around Manhattan and New Jersey. In their first Off-Broadway show, they created their own silent movie, replicating the comedic development of Laurel and Hardy. Further, Danny has been a lifetime collector of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia and he even has a pair of pants and a suit that Ollie wore displayed in his home. In other words, Danny has acquired his own clothing from a past lifetime. In addition, Josh and Danny have the same facial features as Stan and Ollie.
These correspondences between Oliver and Hardy and Josh and Danny Bacher are too great to be attributed to coincidence. I call these types of cases in which individuals are unconsciously attracted to their own past life personas as “affinity cases.” Another such case is the Dorothy Dandridge | Halle Berry reincarnation case.

Please keep in mind that the Bacher Boys’ obsession with Laurel and Hardy and related behaviors occurred long before I contacted Josh and Danny in 2005 to inform them that they are the reincarnations of Laurel and Hardy. Further, when I made this contact, I had no knowledge of their lifelong obsession with Laurel and Hardy. For me, these observations, along with established principles or patterns of reincarnation, validate Ahtun Re’s ability to make accurate reincarnation matches. Their cases can be reviewed at:

All cases proposed by others were subsequently affirmed in sessions that I have had with Kevin Ryerson. Dr. Ian Stevenson, MD, who died in 2007, served as Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine. He was also honored as the Carlson Professor of Psychiatry at that institution. Starting in 1961, for forty years, Dr. Stevenson investigated children who spontaneously remember past lives that could be factually validated. He chose to only study children as he reasoned that children were unlikely to fabricate past life memories. Jim Tucker, MD has taken over for Dr. Stevenson at the University of Virgina.
As of 2018, Dr. Tucker has related to me that Stevenson and his colleagues compiled “over 2500” childhood past life memory cases. In 1567 of these cases, the past life personality was identifed through research. In another 150 cases, the past life personality has been “tentatively” identified.
As such, in my opinion, the number of validated childhood past life memory cases is best represented by the number 1567.
Most of Stevenson’s cases come from Asia, India or other areas where the doctrine of reincarnation is accepted. In locations where reincarnation is not an accepted belief system, it is thought that parents inhibit a child’s expression of past-life memories. The childhood cases studied by Ian Stevenson have a common pattern, marked by the following features:
1. As soon as the child can communicate, the child starts to describe a previous lifetime. Often, the child declares that his or her name is different from the name given to the child by its biologic parents. The child insists that the current family is not its true family, but that his or her real family lives in a different village or town. The child remembers the names of various family members and geographic locations from the past lifetime. Physical features of the past life house and neighborhood may be recalled. In Dr. Stevenson’s series of cases, the average age at which the child starts speaking about a past lifetime is 3 years of age and the average age when children stop talking about a past lifetime is 7. 5 years of age.
2. The child remembers details of its death in the prior lifetime. In approximately 66 percent of Dr. Stevenson’s childhood reincarnation cases, a violent or premature death occurred in the previous lifetime. Dr. Stevenson has found that individuals who died of traumatic wounds, such as bullet or knife wounds, often are born in a subsequent incarnation with birthmarks or scars that mirror the wounds incurred in the past lifetime. In the contemporary lifetime, the child may have a phobia related to the cause of death in the past life. It has been calculated that of the children who remember a violent past life death, 35 percent have a phobia related to the cause of death.
3. Based on information provided by the child to the biologic family, the child’s family from the prior incarnation is eventually identified. When the child meets this family for the first time, the child is able to identify family members by name or by relationship. The child often knows family secrets that only members of the prior family would know. As a result, the family from the past lifetime often accepts the child as the reincarnation of their deceased relative.
The biologic parents of the child in the current incarnation often fear that the child will leave them for the family from the prior incarnation, as the mutual bond between the child and past life family becomes so strong. This fear turns out to be unwarranted, as the bond between the child and the contemporary parents endures. A long-term relationship, though, typically ensues between the child and family from the prior lifetime.
4. Personality traits, personal preferences, and habits often persist from one incarnation to another.
6. Physical appearance can be similar from one lifetime to another
Stevenson cases show that physical appearance can remain the same from one incarnation to another. Two cases in particular dramatically demonstrate how facial features can remain consistent from one lifetime to another. Ian Stevenson studied Suzanne Ghanem and Daniel Jurdi in the late 1960’s, when they were small children. Photographs of these individuals from their prior incarnations were available. Stevenson revisited Suzanne and Daniel in 1998 and found that these two people, now full grown adults, had the same facial features as in their past incarnations. These cases were published in Tom Shroder’s book, Old Souls. Two other Ian Stevenson reincarnation cases, in which photo comparison’s are available (and provided to the right) that demonstrate similar facial features involve: Burmese Twins
In his book, Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect, Dr. Stevenson advised that researchers systematically study “facial resemblances between subjects and previous personalities.”
As noted above, Stevenson cases that demonstrate physical resemblance involves Burmese twins, who were sisters in their past lifetimes. They were part of a study involving 31 sets of twins, whose past lives were objectively validated. In 100% of these cases, the twins had significant past life relationships, concretely demonstrating that souls plan lifetimes to be reunited with loved ones through reincarnation.
8. Children remember the interval in-between lifetimes. In 20 percent of Stevenson’s cases, children report memories of what happened in-between lifetimes in the spirit world. These reports are found on this website under the category:
Of interest, the median interval between the past life death and rebirth is 16 months or about 1.5 years. The average interval between death and rebirth is 4.5 years. For reincarnation cases involving suicide in the prior lifetime, the median interval between death and rebirth is only 3 months.

I also would like to share that I had the opportunity to visit Dr. Stevenson at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in the year 2001. He was a very gracious host and he spent an entire day with me. I was very honored that at the conclusion of my visit, he offered to sponsor me for membership in the Society for Scientific Exploration, an academic organization that he co-founded. Brenda ie-McRae, CCHt was born and grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia. After spending six years in California in the Oceanside area, she returned to Jakarta in June 2009. There, Brenda and her husband, Scott McRae, CHt, who is also a Certified Master Hypnotherapist, have opened a hypnotherapy and past life regression practice
Brenda is a Certified Regression Specialist & Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the Hypnotherapy Training Institute (HTI) and she is a member of the American Certified Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE). She is also a Certified Regression Hypnotherapist by International Association for Regression Research & Therapies (IARRT). Brenda has also trained at the Newton Institute for Life Between Lives in the United States.
Brenda has been one of the pioneers in the past life regression therapy in Indonesia. She was the sole speaker at a very successful past life regression and hypnotherapy seminar held in Jakarta, in 2004, which was attended by about 800 people. Topics Brenda addressed included soul mate search, phobia issues, weight control and life understanding.
Among Brenda’s areas of specialities are past life regression therapy, including life between lives regressions, overcoming phobias (of water, heights, fire, closed spaces, etc), stress reduction, getting rid of bad habits (smoking, nail-bitting, alcohol abuse, sleepwalking, etc), finding and understanding life purpose, releasing negative emotions and energy, enhancing talents and skills, relationship issues, working with natural healing energies, therapeutic guided imagery and pain management.
She learned meditation techniques from wonderful teachers who have helped her become a grounded, caring and compassionate facilitator for her clients. She is humbled by having had the opportunity to have studied with such teachers.
Brenda is passionate about learning and applying combined therapeutic methods to help heal her clients of suffering. On a personal level, Brenda loves butterflies as they are a symbol of life transformation. Just as a caterpillar transforms to a beautiful butterfly which enjoys freedom, she hopes to help her clients transform in a similar way.
